Welcome to our camp in the East! Stelpur rokka! is partnering with Sláturhúsið Cultural Center for a rock camp for youth aged 10 to 12. The camp Come learn an instrument, join a band, write a song and connect with cool women musiciand. Recommended camp tuition is 25.000 ISK. No participant is turned away for lack of funds. Free and subsidised tuition is available. No prior musical experience is necessary. Camp location is accessible for people with disabilities. Registration is open!

 

 

REGISTER FOR Women's rock camp in Egilsstaðir for ages 18 and up

May 31st -  June 2nd

Our women's rock camp will take place in Sláturhúsið, Egilsstaðir on the weekend of May 31st to June 2nd. At women's rock camp participants learn to play instruments, play in a band, attend interesting feminist themed workshops, and perform live at a final showcase at the end of camp. No prior musical experience is necessary! Women's rock camp is a great opportunity to let make some noise and connect with other folks over an empowering and action packed weekend. Recommended camp tuition is 23.000 ISK. No participant is turned away for lack of funds. Free and subsidized tuition is available. Camp location is accessible for people with disabilities.

June 24th - June 28th

At Reykjavík rock camp, 10 - 12 year old and 13 -16 year old campers learn to play instruments, play in a band, write their own songs, participate in social justice themed workshops and perform at the final camp showcase in front of family and friends. The 2018 rock camps will take place in Tónskóli Sigursveins, Hraunberg 2, Breiðholti. Recommended camp tuition is 27.00 ISK for ages 10 to 12 and 33.000 ISK for ages 13 to 16.  No participant is turned away for lack of funds. Free and subsidised tuition is available. Registration is open. No prior musical experience is necessary. Camp location is accessibile for people with disabilities.

Our 2019 Akureyri girls rock camps will take place in Rósenborg culture center in Akureyri over , June 10th - June 14th and June 19th to June 21st. At rock camp, campers learn to play instruments, play in a band, write their own songs, participate in social justice themed workshops and perform at the final camp showcase in front of family and friends! Girl's rock camp is a great opportunity to let make some noise and connect with others during an empowering and action packed week.

Recommended camp tuition is 25.000 ISK for ages 10 through 12 and 20.000 for ages 13 through 16. No participant is turned away for lack of funds. Free and subsidised tuition is available. No prior musical experience is necessary. Rósenborg is accessible for people with disabilities. 

  


About our Rock Camps 

Stelpur rokka! (Girls Rock! Iceland) is a volunteer-run non profit focussing on the empowerment of girls, trans boys, genderqueer youth and intersex  youth through music. At our multi day rock camps, campers learn to play an instrument, form a band, and write their own songs. They participate in workshops on various themes around women and music, attend lunch time shows with famous Icelandic women musicians, and perform their song at a final showcase in front of a packed audience of family and friends.

We do not turn anyone away for lack of funds. We offer a sliding scale tuition for all camps. That means that participants choose what amount they are willing and able to pay as tuition for camp. Free spots are also available. Campers with greater financial need, canpers with Icelandic as a second or third language, and LGBT campers have priority for lowered or free tuition. 

No previous musical experience is necessary. All programming is led by  volunteers with a background in music and experience working with youth. 

Programming is in Icelandic but all of our volunteers speak English. We have several volunteers that are fluent in Spanish, German, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, and French as well as other languages.
